Set Review ➟ 75272 Sith TIE Fighter

Set 75272 Sith TIE Fighter allows you to build one of the Sith Fleet ships, which can be seen in the final part of the disappointing final Star Wars trilogy. This ship appears in the battles of Exegol. Specifically, it is the Sith TIE Dagger, known as the Sith TIE Fighter.

Contents of Set 75272

The box is quite large, containing 458 pieces. Although it could be said that the contents do not occupy two thirds of the volume of the box. As soon as you open it, you can see that it has the manual perfectly protected and the corresponding bags of LEGO parts.

The construction of the ship is divided into three different stages, with their corresponding little bags:

In the first stage we start with the minifigs. The box contains the minifigs of Finn, a pilot of the first order and a knight from Ren. A curious combination, since it doesn't occur at any point in the film. The minifigs are very detailed, and have both torso and legs silk-screened.

The construction begins with the support where the ship will be placed, which is very simple, and passes immediately to the body of the ship. It must be said that all the steps of the construction process are perfectly detailed in the instructions.

Detail of the support

The construction of the body is quite intricate, for what is normally the body of a TIE ship. On the one hand you have a process of adding multiple layers of plates to recreate those red details characteristic of the new ships of the Sith order, and on the other hand the way in which the spherical shape is recreated is quite well achieved. It is worth mentioning the greebles that are part of the engines, which are built without interfering with the spherical curve of the model. The interior of the cabin contains some printed parts.

It should be noted that this set has no stickers. And for how simple it is, I think the interior finish is very accomplished. Once finished, the interior can be easily accessed, as both the roof and the front cockpit can be opened. The only thing I don't like are those jaws that have been added at the front, although as we will see later they have their explanation.

The next step, which is divided into two stages, is the construction of the wings. Basically the process is the same, but it is differentiated in two parts, because the projectile launcher is in a position that implies that the wings are not symmetrical, and it has a small difference in its construction so that we have the projectile launcher in the same position. Be careful here, if you build the two wings the same, the projectile launcher will be at a different height on each side.

The 4×2 pointed wedge plates have been developed, a new piece that will surely delight many builders. In the construction of the wings, the effect of the inclined edges of different colors is very well achieved, and the truth is that they give a very similar aspect to the ship that is replicated here.

Detail of the two sides of the wings

With all the parts of the ship built, it's time to put them together. The connection between the wings and the body is very strong, and thanks to the fitting space it can be done without problems. This is a good feature of the model, because despite its size and weight, the wings are perfectly fixed, and neither rattle in their fitting nor fall out.

The first conclusion is that the model is very big, the size of the wings is enormous. The effect of the red sloping edges is perfectly aligned and very showy.

It is very robust, but it certainly has a big problem, it is badly balanced. It's even difficult to hold, as its weight tends to tip it forward. In fact, the body of the ship has prominent jaws on the sides of the cockpit so that it can be held in place without falling. It is possible that the bricks and pieces that have been added to put the projectile launchers have increased their weight notably in front of the ship's axis. Even so, there is no doubt that it is an impressive model in appearance.
