Set Review ➟ 31105 Toy Shop Town House

Theme: Creator 3-in-1
Release: 2020
Parts: 554
Minifigures: 2

A-Model: Toy Shop

This build is the best build, as the primary models generally are. The toys and the candy dispenser were great to build and show some clever part use. The plane using an ice skate as the rotor worked really well and roller skates for the wheels on the truck equally well.

All three sets are shops and all included a till of some sort, but the till in this model is the best (with the till in build C a close second). The counter is a bit too high and dwarfs the minifigures, but that can easily be amended. There are printed tiles with Lego sets printed on them for the shelf in the shop. The second floor is a pretty basic living space, but it does have a nice blue to brighten up the shop below.

The greatest part of the entire set has to be the rocket—it is simple and effective and could quite easily be motorised.

Grade: 8/10

B-Model: Cake Shop

This one is a cake shop and attached Lego builder’s study. The build makes good use of colour, but is otherwise pretty basic. Using a clear door to create a fridge was the most interesting part of the build.

Grade: 4/10

C-Model: Flower Shop

This third build was much better than the second. The flat sunroof was a nice touch and is very well executed. The flower above the door and the sign at the front were also great touches that really round-out the build.

Grade: 6/10

Conclusion

The primary model was by far the best build and could easily be expanded and improved upon if you are looking to add this set to a street layout. All the builds have removable roofs, and with the primary build you can split the floors for easy access and playability. Structural strength in all the builds is pretty good, though the mini-builds above the doors of each shop are easy to knock out of alignment during play.

This set would be suitable for an 8 or 9 year old looking to build a shop to play with, but would also work for older Lego fans after a base to work from for adding to a larger modular town. Certainly the rocket will be right at home in any theme park that you may be looking to expand.

Overall Grade: 7/10
