Set Review ➟ LEGO® 40699 - Retro Record Player

Well, well, well... When I saw that this limited edition gift for purchase was a record player... I smiled, of course I did. Many record players pass through my hands -the real ones- and touching such a cool LEGO one made me laugh, of course it did. A GWP valued on the web at 29,99€ and 310 pieces. It comes with some attractive pieces and even the plate rotates! The content is like this.

I see some technic brick in new color... we will find more things for sure as some printed tiles that can be seen in the box. The base has nothing special, but some very cool details. Some pieces are placed that will give us some necessary spaces later and little else. The detail I was telling you is the audio output for good speakers. Simple but isn't it very nice?

The movement system is very simple and effective. The transmission to the plate is manual but it is easy to attach a motor with a little skill. The base is already finished!

Here is the transparent cover module. Easy, movable and reliable. Not much else here. You don't need much more for a good result either, do you?

The construction of the set ends with the vinyl record. Two details, one that I didn't like and one that I loved. I start with the bad one... the pickup arm does not go up, it only moves laterally, which is scratching the record and it is no longer heard normally, it is jumping all the time! On the other hand, when I still try to hear the record, I find that the needle is moving inwards! It's great! For those of you who have not experienced this at home with a real turntable, you just need to know that a vinyl record moves clockwise, if you move it counterclockwise the needle moves outwards. That is to say, the vinyl without having real grooves behaves as if it had them.
