Set Review ➟ 76780 LEGO® Wednesday Addams Figure

set

Nice. Very nice. Nice to review a set that doesn’t have 1600 or 1800 or 3500 pieces. And the Wednesday Addams Figure is a pleasant and charming set. I am aware that pleasant and charming are not adjectives that necessarily fit the character of Wednesday Addams, but there you have it.

The set is fairly rudimentary in terms of build and assembles quite quickly and easily. Compositionally it is effectively a figure standing on a box platform with drawers in the box to hold pieces for the alternate figure build.

The package displays a “Build and Rebuild” slogan which refers to the figure. Two figure builds are possible: Wednesday in her school uniform and Wednesday in a dress. The figure uses many of the same parts for each build, the legs are identical and the head is mostly identical save for the face brick and some parts of the hair. The torso assembly is mostly different in each version, and I’m considering the skirt as part of the torso.

The base is cleverly designed with interlocking drawers held in place with an axle as a securing pin. The box is fairly heavily ornamented with thematic mini-builds of elements from the television series adorning the top of the box with gothic embellishments elsewhere.

Stickers are relatively few and the two face bricks are mercifully printed. The faces are a new brick with a subtle but complex contour and no doubt attempting to put a full-size sticker on it would result in sticker wrinkles.

Play value here is restricted to the “Build and Rebuild” concept where play equates to building. The figure is minimally posable with neck and arm articulation possible. As a display piece it definitely has more going on with the box/stand and figure than the various brickheads figures which are of similar product category.

In a Wednesday Addams touch of irony, the final sticker applied is a QR code linking to LEGO’s app featuring instructions how to build the set…just what is needed after completing the build.

Summary

This is a charming display piece which captures well the Wednesday aesthetic. If left on display for an extended period such that it collects dust and cobwebs it could be considered…appropriate.
