Set Review ➟ LEGO® 75354 - Coruscant guard gunship
I must admit that I was really looking forward to building this set. Most probably because I remember with great affection the assembly of the Clone Wars gunship, yes I am referring to the set 7676. This is a set with 1083 pieces, 5 minifigures and a cost of 149,99€ on the official website.
Without further ado, let's get to the construction and see what we find there. As always we take a look at the contents. 10 bags, manual and a small sticker sheet.
The first thing to build is Padme :). Then we start the base of the gunboat and the interior floor.
Now we will implement the front cannons and part of the nose. I really like the way they fit together. Notice how well the guns are embedded in the structure.
Major Fox! In this section we build the upper part of the gunboat with its handle so that it can be moved safely. There is nothing remarkable in these steps really.
The upper section is what is implemented here. There is nothing remarkable about it either, except perhaps to assimilate the importance of using arms to firmly anchor both upper and lower areas. The rest is pure ‘stack’ of parts.
Let's put a couple of tailgates and their interesting but simple opening mechanism. What do you think? Let's finish this little bag with the tailgate. Unfortunately LEGO is still experiencing problems with the same colour shades as you can see...
It is the turn of a Coruscant guard and the driver's cabins. There is no mystery about them. Here you can see the detail of the coupling to the rest of the ship.
The tailgate mechanism is obviously different from the front one. Here you can see the structure in two parts. The upper one opens and closes from back to front and vice versa by pressing the technic L-piece. The lower one is supported by two hinges. It works quite well.
As expected, we are expected to speculatively build the same steps, minifigure included.
The villain of the saga in his hidden chancellor version! I love the tunic. And as expected, the only thing missing are the wings of the gunship. They don't have any remarkable techniques, but some details do catch my attention. For example the configuration of the firing cannons. Making them appear both on the lower and upper part of the wing makes it a very nice detail.
This is a set that a lot of adult enthusiasts will say is a bit rubbish because there is already a UCS gunship blah blah blah blah .... however I think it is an excellent playable set. Very sturdy wings, structure as well as the gates. A set that any kid 9+ and under can enjoy, and of course a kid over 45 can enjoy too! Without a doubt it's a set that, apart from its scale, is very well made, designed and implemented.
We are grateful to LEGO for sending this set for this review, but LEGO does not endorse or support the opinions expressed in this review.
