Set Review ➟ LEGO® 75383 - Darth Maul's sith infiltrator

When I saw this set, to say that my mouth was watering is an understatement, a very understatement. And yes, it wasn't because of the ship, which has already been reissued several times, but because of the Saw Gerrera figure! I thought this figure would never come to life and I think in the common imagination many fans of the Star Wars universe wanted it badly. Well, now it's possible! This set is a 9+ with 640 pieces, 4 minifigures and costs 69,99€.

The contents you will find are seven bags and a construction manual. No stickers :). Let's get to the nougat.

The first thing that is built is Darth Maul's speeder and the spy probes he sends to Tattoine to discover the location of the Jedi. The speeder is a blast - remember that version of the first infiltrator?

Times have certainly changed a lot in this respect. New colours, new references, new and more complex techniques but still if you compare those speeder with a lot of years between them.... don't they still have something that makes them similar? That's the magic of LEGO construction - wonderful!

In the first section of the ship, the base is constructed with a hatch and an internal spring that will be used for pulse firing.

Next we find Qui-Gon with his spongy poncho and Saw Gerrera's cape in the same box. The latter comes printed.

Now the construction occupies us by thickening and giving the characteristic shape of the ship. Nothing remarkable in terms of curious techniques.

In this phase we will focus on outlining the rounded shape of the ship. Something that we have experienced hundreds of times in other constructions and that does not bring us any important point either.

In this version of the child Anakin the head comes with a double face, I like this one in particular. That face of surprise and strangeness at the same time.

Now we will place a mechanism in the front centre part that rotates a few degrees. These are quite meticulous because when the hatch is opened by a few microns it doesn't rub on the front parts. We will also finish the part where Maul's speeder is located.

The mechanism for launching the lasers is very simple but very effective. I was quite surprised. We close the hind quarters of the ship. The technique for this with various hinges makes the opening large and playable at the end and when closing it is quite well covered.

Well, we've arrived at the highlight of the set.... Yes, I'm sorry but what I was looking forward to the most is the Gerrera minifigure. A couple of images speak for themselves. The figure is great, if they had worked a bit more on the author's characteristic facial detail... I mean the one that makes him have a lazy eye, so to speak... Nevertheless, I insist, it's great!

Well, in these last steps we will put the wings on and the ship will be finished. Let's test the triggers! They work perfectly.

This is another reedition of the Sith infiltrator that brings other constructive points of view and some interesting pieces. The mechanism that opens and closes the lower hatch is at least curious and totally effective. The set of minifigures is fine, but it would have been great if they had included a new one of Jar-Jar for example. It's compensated by the Saw Gerrera figure, although it certainly has nothing to do with Episode I. Of course the ship is 100% identifiable by any fan, it's playable and not least it's tough. Another new addition to the collection. We thank LEGO for sending the set for review in this article. LEGO does not endorse or support in any way the opinions expressed in this review.
