Set Review ➟ LEGO® 75365 - Yavin IV rebel base
In this set we will recreate the scenes of the rebel base on the planet Yavin IV. A set that will make us enjoy hours of play as a good playset. It is a set with 1066 pieces, a cost of 169.99€ and 10 minifigures according to the LEGO website, sorry but for me they are 12 as it appears in bricklink. Droids count too! And if not, just tell that to the peculiar personalities of our beloved C3PO and R2-D2!
We have a content of 11 bags and a manual in the familiar cardboard folder, will there be stickers inside?
Did you doubt it? My little padawans! Joking aside, we find stickers again and some of them would have been great if they had been printed on the piece where they were to be placed later on, don't you think? The division -as expected- in several manuals for the different parts of the set is a total of 6 manuals. Let's get to work! We first built R2-BHD and the gold leader, Jon Vander.
We start with the small, tiny, tiny Y-wing ship. I find a slope with a numbering or date? very particular ^^. The truth is that the ship in its first bag has nothing remarkable. With the second one there are some funny techniques like the end of the thruster engines. They look weak but nothing like that. A recognizable and very playable ship but certainly and at the moment very little for an adult but maybe not for a child of 8+ :).
At the end of the ship we can say that it has some touches of genius with so few parts that it is worth pointing out. I am referring to the thrusters.
We started the base. Here you can get a glimpse of General Dodonna and the red leader, Garven Dreis. The helmet is great! But it's not all positive... if you compare the two leaders you can see that the figures are identical except for the helmet.
Although they are present throughout the LEGO system, I love it when mathematics smiles at us with these angles, for example. This structure will be used several times in the set.
Here you can see the left side of the base already built from an internal view. Seen in the box it doesn't look like it's going to have a big dimension but I think that for a playable set it's definitely a size to enjoy well.
We start the lower central part of the base... But first come clean... how many Chewies do you have under your belt?
Nothing of note here. A base for what it will hold...
At the top we have a couple of screens and a couple of blasters that move thanks to a technic arm. Finally some gameplay.
It's been a long time since this happened to me.... I'm missing a brick masonry in dark tan! No matter how hard I've looked for it, I can't find it. It's not there and I think it's very rare to find such a serious and heavy mistake, never better said. To continue with the construction I had to use one from my stock of course. This is how the cannon part looks like.
We continue with the next section. We ride the most human droid couple in the whole galaxy and we continue with Leia. The hair is a sight to behold! But unfortunately it doesn't match the one shown in this particular scene of this movie. The hair corresponds to that of the medal ceremony.
The next section corresponds to the other corner of the base. Except for the detail of the two small glazed cupboards nothing to comment, it is the same structure that we liked in the previous part, but nothing more.
At the top will be built the big radar area. Compared to the one in the movie it looks pretty ridiculous, but let's remember... it's a playset :/.
Well, we are approaching the end of the set and now we are going to do the part where we are going to do the room where Han and Luke received their medals from Leia and Chewie was not given them :(. Something that they made up for many years later in the last trilogy of the saga. We will have the opportunity to give it to them this time as there is a medal in the extra pieces :D.
The part of the handover ceremony, the altar, is unremarkable, perhaps the floral decoration on the inside and little else.
However, making the walls, the roof and the satellite dish is a bit tricky. Note that the base where the satellite dish is located.
And finally we are going to make the transport speeder as well as the tree guard from the classic scene. Here you see a rebel trooper and a rebel crew.
The speeder looks good and the olive green colouring makes it even more attractive. A new reference appears on the watchman of the aŕbol, which is used to raise and lower the watchtower. An interesting piece indeed.
This is definitely a set to have a good time with our kids or enjoying some of our scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy. It has a good piece and some of the minifigures like Leia are a delight. In my opinion the price is a bit expensive, but we all know that our hobby is expensive. On the other hand, the good times are worth it }:) In terms of techniques there is not much to say but perhaps the most striking thing in my opinion is the angular shape in which the designers have worked. It's simple and effective and certainly another trick to add to the huge bag of tricks that LEGO has provided us with through their sets. We are grateful to LEGO for making this set available for review in this article. LEGO does not support or endorse these opinions in any way as they are ours alone.
