Set Review ➟ LEGO® 76422-Diagon alley: Weasley s wizard wheezes
Fifth Harry Potter licensed set, this time the 76422 dedicated to the Wheasley brothers' shop. 76422-Diagon alley: Weasley's wizard wheezes, a set with 834 pieces, 7 minifigures and a cost of 94.99€. When I saw this set I asked myself, why this set? Very very recently LEGO produced a great set with the 75978-Diagon Alley set, but now they are releasing just one of the buildings? The answer may be in the price as the first reason. Also comparing this set with the similar 75978 building we can see that this one is certainly more playable than that one. Be that as it may, there is no doubt that having both of them will make it much easier to make a bigger and totally compatible building, all we need is a little bit of ingenuity and without a doubt tons of fun.
The contents are presented in 10 bags and a construction manual protected in a cardboard folder.
Yes, my dear friends, we also get a lot of stickers :/.
Well, let's get down to business. In the first two bags we will build the "Owl post" post office. It looks very tiny but funny :). Here you can see the mifigure of the post office worker.
The first bag is just a handful of pieces and we have them in place in no time.
We continue with Lavender and that owl, I love how detailed it is.
The construction of the house has a technique for the door wall that I really liked. Using a turntable at the base, and then the 6171066 bracket on top gives a pretty good finish with no gaps on either side. Yet another way I have to learn, it's great! Next you can see the little building, which although small is playful ^^.
Next stop, Fred Weasley. The suit is great, and the detail of the initial of the surname on the tie is not to be missed :D.
We start with the lower part of the tent. No special techniques, but lots of fun and colourful decorations. Of course, we'll have to use a lot of stickers...
Here you see the next minifigure, Romilda Vane and now, let's build the window part!
The detail of how the curved windows on the sides go is a new use for me :)
And with the central window this part is finished.
And here is the other Weasley brother, note the different shirt :)
Note the placement of the 2x2 round plate in reddish brown on the side windows.
Ron Weasley, he's got a bit of an old face XD
Of course, so far the set has been impressive, showing some very nice techniques, ranging from the circular sign in the central window to the way the tops of the side windows are hooked together and of course the interior decoration.
The next section will build the torso of the big funny mannequin. The part of the top of the window is sublime, I recommend you to have a look at the instructions as soon as you can. Besides, another circular poster is made again, different and more elaborated but with the same aesthetics. Definitely something to remember for our own constructions.
Here you can see the little Weasley girl, Ginni with a printed tile - well, at least this one is without a sticker!
What follows are just totally decorative aspects like what I think are.... Clogs on the wall? Very detailed, the pity is that so many stickers have to be put on.
And here is the next finished bag. I have to tell you that the part of the head, the way it is embedded in the main structure of the building is truly remarkable. The result is impeccable. Don't miss these steps.
Finally we are left with details like the vomit-flavoured candy dispenser and some more interior details. The result is a very playable, spacious, detailed and technically very good set. It also has an assortment of very tasty minifigures.
A set for the Harry Potter fan to consider and for the AFOL avid for some good tricks no doubt too. We thank LEGO for providing this beautiful set for this article but LEGO will never endorse or support the opinions expressed in this article in any way.
