Set Review ➟ LEGO® 71783 Kai's Mech Rider EVO

The third instalment of this review of some of the new Ninjago sets from early 2023 will show us the 71783 set. This set with 312 pieces and a price tag of 44.99€ brings us 4 minifigures and a lot of fun for sure. The difference with the previous releases, especially 71781, is that this time Kai's mecha... rides a motorbike! Besides, it's a bike with a priori cyberpunk tints... it appeals to me. We'll see how it's built.

The contents are 4 numbered bags and again one of the new enemy faction weapons, plus instructions and 2 tyres. And yes, this time there is also a sticker sheet.

Again we see the addition of new references.

And here the minifigures, I really like the Bone King :D

In this first bag we will build the Kai mecha except for a few details that will finalize the set. If you read the impressions of the 71781 here is more of the same. A very simple construction, with enough mobility, although the main piece that configures the arms and legs of the mecha has no mobility at all, so you will never be able to put the extremities straight or at 90º for example. However, the ball joints in the groin, armpits and ankles make it possible to configure it in a multitude of positions and it is very, very easy for the model to stand upright without any problem, thus eliminating those moments of frustration when a child finds it difficult to leave the model in that position.

In the second building block we will attack the body and fairing of the mecha bike. The construction as you can imagine is based on a block covered with brackets and filled in some parts with plates and some "greebling". The result is simple to say the least but very cool. It appeals to me and I like the fact that with few parts you can get such obvious and fun results.

In the next part we will make the chassis of the bike where the wheels will be placed, we will also build a Bone warrior and.... New references too :), in this case they are used as footrests on the bike.

And with just a few chassis parts we already have the superbike of Kai's mecha with just a few side details missing.

In the next steps we will finish the set by decorating a little bit everything we have so far, but we still have some surprises left, like new references and a printed tile... And of course our beloved ninja Nya!

After decorating the bike and detailing the mecha comes the key moment. Clipping the mecha to the bike and until the second attempt I haven't managed to do it because the chest of the mecha has been disassembled, however it is not difficult for an adult but I wonder if for a child it won't be, remember that it is a set for 7 years and upwards. Once the model is finished, Kai to the rescue, he's already in trouble!

The result is a very cool set, in the line we are used to with lots of ninja details and big swords in the style of some Japanese manga. A set undoubtedly very playable, fun and... bruumm bruumm! very fast! As always we thank LEGO for sending this set for review in this article.
