Set Review ➟ LEGO® 71781 Lloyd's Mech Battle EVO
In these reviews we will be showing you our impressions of some of the sets that will be coming out at the beginning of the year 2023 in the Ninjago line. This time it will be the set 71781 Lloyd's mech battle EVO with 223 pieces and a price of 19,99€. As you can see on the box it shows a battle scene between two "mechas" piloted by Golden Lloyd and a Bone warrior.
The contents are 3 numbered bags and an additional one full of parts of bones, swords, shurikens, etc, plus as always the manual which on this occasion I found to be small in size. All the parts with drawings are printed, so.... good note for LEGO!
The construction starts with Lloyd's mecha. As always I like to assemble the figure if one appears in the first bag of the set. I like the detail of the dark green dungarees with the gold colour. I also find some new references and a printed piece. In the second bag we also find the same green piece but in red, nice not to have to deal with stickers!
You start with the chest and the construction is step by step, that is, piece by piece, so it can be a bit tedious to turn the pages and only have put two pieces per page if you are an experienced builder. But on the other hand, if you are a new LEGO building enthusiast, whether you are an infant or not, it is not so bad. The symmetry in the construction except for the weapon is total, there is no difference between the right and left side of the mecha and nothing remarkable or technical. It's all just a matter of fitting the pieces together and enjoying it. For the moment we will have finished with bag 1, as in bag 3 we will still have to add some details to the model that will undoubtedly enhance it. The flexibility and balance in this kind of models makes them 100% playable, as they keep the balance so easily they avoid those moments of frustration in the little ones, even when they are over 40 years old! :)
In the next bag the antagonist in this story awaits us. I confess that in this new batch of Ninjago sets I quite like these new enemies.
Structurally, the construction of this mecha is practically identical to the previous one, except for the aesthetic differences. The hat has a double function, on the one hand it holds the Bone warrior figure as the minifigure has no fastening and falls off easily, and on the other hand it is used as a shield as shown in the instructions.
We finish by adding to Lloyd's robot those details that make it more attractive and at the same time give it a more imposing air. Here again we get some new references :). That kind of boomerang he carries in his left hand can also be placed on his back as you can see in the image on the box.
And here you have this couple making love to each other as the Ninjago world tradition dictates.
This is an obviously playable set as it is sturdy, very mouldable, easy to place the mechas in many possible positions and with some interesting new pieces in addition to the printed ones of course. We thank LEGO for sending this set for review in this article. The opinions expressed in this article are ours alone and LEGO does not endorse or support them in any way.
