Set Review ➟ LEGO® 75326 Boba Fett’s throne room

I finally got my hands on this little set from the new batch of The Book of Boba Fett series, the 75321 Boba Fett’s Throne. The set consists of 732 pieces according to lego.com and 712 pieces according to bricklink.com. Fortunately, when it comes to minifigures, both sites agree, there are seven and the price is 99.99€. The set is a priori very playable, with moving parts that make it more compact or open to interior play. We will discover its secrets as we build it. Let’s get to work! Here we see the front of the box in which, as always, LEGO whets our appetite by showing us the minifigures and the general construction.

The content of the set as shown below is based on 6 numbered bags, a construction manual and the everlasting sticker sheet, in this case there are 6 of them. I foresee that the round ones are going to be hard to put straight on the tile round. We’ll see how they look when the time comes to apply them. You can judge for yourselves.

Well, we start with the first bag. We will build the main character Boba Fett and start the base of the central construction of the throne. There’s nothing remarkable to tell in these steps except to enjoy the construction like a good little kid. The Boba minifigure goes without saying but we’ll say it, he’s candy!

The following bagged content details some objects such as a small table, some boxes and the barbecue where Jabba the Hutt heated his succulent and disgusting morsels. I love the finish of the roof on the upper part with those perfectly embedded grilles, however the finish of the sides as a vent has not convinced me.

Next we will build the rear part of the previous module. The finish of the roof has certainly improved the sides, which I was not convinced about, as it is completed coherently and improves the overall impression. The construction is rigid despite the mobility given to the construction for playability. All areas are easily accessible and there are no hard-to-reach corners. This is a great point as it is important to be able to play a set otherwise there is no point. Some would say that collecting them makes sense, we won’t argue with that of course, but playing it is what makes it what it is, a toy.

In the fourth bag the following minifigures appear, in this case we are talking about the beautiful dancer Theelin and the guard Weequay. In this last minifigure, if we look at her braids that start at the back of her head and fall along her back on the left side, we can count three braids. However, at the front there are… two more braids! This is a rather strange detail, don’t you think? Looking for example in the Hasbro collectible figures (VC107, 2012 Hasbro) you can see that the character has more than three braids, so I deduce that it is a mistake when making the character by the LEGO minifigure department. It would be nice if they could tell us something about it.

We are now at the meridian of the construction of the set and the biggest part has been done. Now the construction is focussed on the sides, which also open and close a few degrees, multiplying the playability of the set. In this case the area where Quarren takes a quiet drink in the image of the set is done. There are no technical highlights except for the tilting stairs that will trip up the Gamorrean warrior. Practically pure stud on top construction and little else. Regarding the pieces, it’s the first time I have a yellow frictionless technic pin.

We will now build the Gamorrean figure and also the Fennec Shand figure, this time with hair and not the helmet that appears in set 75315. The first one has printed legs as shown in the picture.

In this part of the construction we will make the entrance with the typical eye that stretches to see the newcomers better. You will all remember the typical scene in which C3PO and R2-D2 arrive at the palace with Leia’s distress message inside. The door has a technique that I didn’t know and the truth is that it is impeccably made. Without a doubt a technique that I will write down for future constructions of all kinds. The tower is very simple but very attractive.

And finally we come to the last of the set’s wrappers. Here we assemble the desired Quarren figure as well as a new Bib Fortuna figure. The Star Wars universe has so many characters that as long as LEGO keeps working on this license I hope they keep giving us joy in the form of new moulds and characters. In this case the truth is that Bib’s head seems to me lucky, that fold that has the tail part under the neck gives the texture of a greasy body, I think it’s very successful. You can check this piece comparing it with the two previous Bib Fortuna moulds, which one do you like more?

With the last pieces we will finally focus on the throne. This is built apart from the building and not on top of it, then it can be recessed to cover a small chest underneath it which holds some of what appears to be Beskar and a couple of weapons. It has a mechanism to drive Bib Fortuna out and Boba Fett finally takes the throne that once belonged to Jabba the Hutt. Unfortunately, even though the mechanism doesn’t fail, the minifigure often comes out to one side and not more or less to the front as it should have been in my opinion. Nevertheless it fulfils its function well.

The conclusion is that the set is a bit expensive for the number of pieces it comes with, although it is true that it is compensated by the new moulds and characters it brings with it. The playability is good, you can access any area. One thing that has disappointed me is that it cannot be folded completely on itself, the construction is either aligned or U-shaped. Either way is appreciated and plays well. There are no interesting techniques except in my opinion the throne and the door, both with small touches of Legonian wisdom.

We would like to thank LEGO for providing the set for this review although LEGO does not endorse or support the opinions expressed in this review as they are ours alone.
