Set Review ➟ 10293 Santa's Visit
The latest addition to the Winter Village collection is here. This is the 10293 LEGO® Santa's Visit set.
The theme of the set is dedicated to one of the most desired moments for children (and not so children) at Christmas time, the arrival of Father Christmas and what it implies, presents, presents and more presents.
With a set of 1445 pieces, we will build a cosy little house, full of details and with a big chimney ready for Father Christmas to climb down and leave the presents. New in the line, we finally have an illuminated Christmas tree!
MINIFIGURES
The set consists of 4 minifigures that will represent the family of the house and Father Christmas.
The male figure is wearing a brown argyle jumper, very much in keeping with the Christmas period, with a red scarf around his neck. The minifig has a double face and a brown moustache.
The torso of the female figure wears a pink jacket over a pink shirt, with a collar around the neck. It is also double-sided, with a large black bow as hair.
La niña viene con un pijama color turquesa, con doble cara y dos coletitas.
The Father Christmas figure is the most interesting figure in the set. This figure has a new silkscreen print on both the face and torso and for the first time, the legs have been fitted with black boots, which gives a little more realism to the Father Christmas figure we know.
CONSTRUCTION
The set comes with 9 bags, numbered 1 to 9, two instruction manuals and a small sticker sheet..
We begin the assembly with the construction of what will be the entrance to the house. To do this, on some white plates, we added some wooden fences and a post on which we will hang a lantern to light up the entrance. We also built the red letterbox to send the letters to Father Christmas.
We create a snow texture on the fences and ground, to give the sensation of a good snowfall. For this, among other pieces, we will use the Slope Curved 1x1 Double, a piece that, as we will see, will be used a lot in the construction of this set..
The next step is to build the Christmas tree, decorated with coloured balls, using round plates and adding a light brick on the inside to allow it to light up. We finish off the tree by placing a precious stone on the top and place it on top of a large 4x4 wooden pot.
Now if we want the tree to light up, we have to press down on the brick inside the tree and the whole tree will light up with a yellow light.
We then set up all the boxes and gifts, such as a rocket or a trumpet, which we will leave under the tree.
The next step is to start building the house. To do this we will create a base on which we will build the different parts of the house.
We start with the kitchen, located at one end of the house. We begin by laying the floor, which will be tan and white tiles. We will add a sink with its tap and some kitchen units, on which we will add details such as slices of bread or a pastry blender.
In the kitchen there is also an oven and hob with a frying pan.
In the centre we will have the entrance to the house, to which we will add a wooden door with typical Christmas decoration. We add the detail of a doormat which will be a Round Tile 2x4 Oval in medium nougat..
At the other end of the house is the living room where we find the fireplace. On the mantelpiece, we will find a clock (2x4 tile with sticker) with the typical Christmas candles on the sides and the family's Christmas stockings in different colours. Above the fireplace, a picture of the family presides over the living room..
The fireplace is lit, so we find some flames that we will keep alive by throwing logs of wood that we find on the side.
In the centre of the living room we have a two-tone green carpet, a sofa by the window and by the fireplace. Hidden behind the sofa is a gift box. It is not the only one, in the upper part of the house we will find another hidden box.
And don't forget to leave some food for when Father Christmas visits. On a small table we found a cup of milk and a couple of biscuits.
Above the kitchen is the attic bedroom of the youngest child in the house. Here we find a bed next to a small desk where we have the letter that the little one has written to Father Christmas. The detail of the picture with a drawing of a rocket gives us clues as to why we find a rocket as a present on the tree.
To finish with the interior of the house, we will add a large dining table, with its red tablecloth accompanied by 4 chairs also decorated in the typical Christmas colour. In the centre of the table, two large white candles and let's not forget the typical Christmas plant very common at this time of the year.
The façade of the building is blue, except for the lower part and the chimney, which are dark grey. To break up and give some texture to the chimney, light grey pieces have been used. Perhaps something similar could have been done with the façade of the house, using some brick with Masonry Profile and give a little detail of realism.
At the entrance to the house there is an arch on two columns with lanterns. Above this entrance there is a small room with a window in which we can see a lit candle.
When it comes to roofs, these will be quite steep, the sloped roof is our greatest ally in times of snow. We will use white plates to simulate snowy roofs, topped with tiles on the edges and Slopes Curved 1x1 Double on the ridge to simulate accumulated snow.
The roof panel on the girl's side of the bedroom can be hinged to the outside for easy access
The final part of the chimney is also decorated with white elements to simulate snow. This final part of the chimney can be removed in case Father Christmas gets stuck in the chimney.
We will also find snow accumulating on all the window sills and around the house. On the outside of the window we find a small white bird.
We can see how all the windows have the typical Christmas ornaments and holly branches, as well as a small snowman, although with very little detail.
On the chimney side, a tree with few snow-covered branches houses a small birdhouse.
CONCLUSION
The end result is a very cosy house, full of Christmas details. I love the design of the stockings on the fireplace, as well as the main table for Christmas meals. The decoration of the little girl's bedroom is simple but beautiful.
The Christmas tree is quite well done and the fact that it can be illuminated is a plus. I have missed having a space inside the house for this tree, along with all the presents, as the lack of space means leaving these elements outside the house.
In short, an essential set if you are a lover of the Winter Village line to expand your Christmas diorama.
