Set Review ➟ LEGO® 21326 Winnie the Pooh
The first appearance of the story of Winnie the Pooh dates from 1926. The name comes from a stuffed toy belonging to the author’s son, who named him Winnie, as that was the name of a bear he saw at the zoo. The surname Pooh comes from the fact that, as the story tells, Winnie was holding on to his balloon for so long that when he was able to get out of it his arms were stiff and, as a result, when a fly landed on his nose, he could only blow it away by blowing it away with a “puh, puh”.
The set has 1265 pieces and an always welcome number of extra pieces, its price is 109,99€ and it belongs to the Lego Ideas line that is bringing such good results to the LEGO group. Moreover, it is an 18+, I don’t know if it’s because of its vintage character for an adult audience or because there are some steps that are a bit complicated. Here is the front aspect of the box of the set:
The contents of the set are 7 bags and an instruction book with some images of the vintage cartoons. It comes with 5 very good minifigures, very well characterised, plus a lot of new colours and some new moulds, at least for me because I didn’t know them, in this case the bricklink reference number 35700. It also comes with a couple of small sheets of stickers and some printed tiles like the one on the door frame “MR SANDERS”, a ladybird and also the new bees print on trans round tiles. I love them!
From the list of moulds, new colours or printed pieces that come in the set, which according to Bricklink are 12 references, I really like these:
49577 in bright green, the piece that simulates sea coral is now available in bright green, ideal for tree branching as used in this set. 98374pb04 pot with Hunny pattern, honey pot, now our kitchen interiors can show off a rich honey pot. 35787 in tan, triangular tile. I hope more colours will be added to this reference soon. 98138pb186, transparent round tile with printed bee.
The construction starts with the base of the house and tree which are all one. The house part is foldable. When making the grassy mounds adjacent to the entrance, we can see that 4 clip pieces have been added to the corners of the construction (11090) to insert a leaf that is placed in a tool (65578) in each one of them. This piece is a bit difficult to clip, and if the clip on which it is placed is rotated, you have to reorient the piece to try again. This is the only negative point I have found when building the set.
The interior of the tree house is quite complete. It has a bed with an oil lamp at the foot, curtains, an armchair, a table with a good jar of sweet honey and a very pretty fireplace. In the entrance there is a mirror and an umbrella stand, in front of it a piece of furniture with a teapot and on it a map of the area. The house lacks a useful space for play. The only places to place a minifigure are on the bed, on the armchair or in the gap between the table and the fireplace, at the risk of poor Winnie burning his bottom. It is true that it is a very playable set because when the interior is unfolded there is “infinite” space for the game. But once folded, it becomes impossible to play inside. Yes, we know that space is a handicap difficult to achieve in this kind of sets.
The construction part of the tree with the roots coming out of the ground is very well done. I think the integration of the medium nougat colour is an excellent success. Detail of a big root of the tree:
The fact that the branches are not aligned at 90º to the ground is a nice detail. It is achieved with a simple anchoring with technic clips as shown in the pictures:
To finish with the structure of the tree, there is a detail in the construction that should be noted for future constructions, as we will see in the images. With this technique it is possible to give some randomness to the branches and get a more natural tree:
The construction is nearing completion and all that remains is to finish the roof of Winnie the Pooh’s house, the foliage of the tree and some details around it.
Detail of the assembly of the leaves with the new colour of the coral piece:
Detail of the set in game mode:
And this is the general appearance of the set. The log at the entrance, the fire where all the friends gather in the warmth. I love the detail of the snail on the left of the next picture:
In conclusion, the set is very well done, full of details and with some very interesting construction steps to incorporate into our own constructions. It is a highly recommended set both for collectors and to incorporate the interesting exploded view to our collection of pieces. As always, we would like to thank LEGO for providing the set for this review. The opinions are ours alone and LEGO neither shares nor endorses them in any way.
