Set Review ➟ 76383 Hogwarts Moment: Potions Class

What we have here is the LEGO® Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ Moment: Potions Class (76383) set, inspired by a Hogwarts™ classroom. The original issue about this set is that it looks like a book and inside it we find Professor Snape’s Potions class.

We should not forget that the Harry Potter saga is originally a series of novels that, after their success, became part of the celluloid world, consecrating the wizards fantasy world into a worldwide phenomenon. That’s why the set is presented in the form of a book, makes it special, and gives you the opportunity to have the books of the saga on your shelf along with a LEGO version (long live the freak).

The set is full of details and accessories that recreates the Potions classroom from the Harry Potter movies, located in one of the dungeons.

Inside the box we get two parts bags, building instructions, stickers sheet, and three pieces, two of them are modificated tiles 10x16, sand green, one of them with the Hogwarts potions class emblem silk-screened on it, and we will use them for the book covers.

MINIFIGS

There come 3 minifigures: Draco Malfoy™, Seamus Finnigan and Professor Snape. All 3 minifigures come with a double face head and with their respective wand.

The new Professor Snape minifig it’s very similar to the previous existing versions.

Draco Malfoy™ has the Slytherin House emblem in his sweater while Seamus Finnigan™ wears the Gryffindor House emblem.

BUILDING

We start the building with the potions book, which consists in two Utensil Book Cover pieces and a tile Tan 1x2, to continue with an armchair.

Next we make a small shelf where there are a cauldron and a glass urn that it contains. The bottom of the shelf is represented by a sticker. We will see that the use of stickers in this set is quite recurrent from what I think.

It is the turn of a blackboard, where we find what appears to be potion formulas. Again a sticker. The board can be folded up for storage. As a last piece of furniture, we built a large table on which to place jars.

The next step is to make the covers and the spine of the book that will contain all the elements that we are building.

On the spine we will place the sticker of the cauldron, an essential element when making potions. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry silk-screen appears on the front silk-screen cover, with potion-related items such as bottles, mushrooms, and a crystal. The book color, all it, is Sand Green since green is one of the colors of the Slytherin House.

Three large stickers as a background decoration represent the dungeons. In one of them we see the name of Tom Riddle, who will later be known as Lord Voldemort.

Next we will build the dungeons walls, made up of columns and arches, with stickers that simulate bottles and jars on shelves.

One part of the wall has accessories such as a spoon, a knife, a cup, a cauldron and a violet potion, in addition to other flasks.

All this can be folded to be integrated into the book when it is closed.

In the central part we will place a pair of facing snakes. Remember that the emblematic animal of the house is a snake.

CONCLUSIONS

We must recognize the ingenious way in which they have designed the set to be able to fold it and that everything fits perfectly inside the book once it is closed.

I love the jars in different colors and all the furniture that goes with the classroom. Of the 3 minifigs, I definitely prefer Draco Malfoy’s, I love that hair.

As a negative point of this set, the excessive use of stickers. I would have liked more details built with bricks instead of the use of a sticker, but I understand that in this size and to be able to replicate certain things, its use is essential.

Without a doubt, the set will end up on the shelf alongside other non-LEGO books.
