Set Review ➟ 42121 Heavy-Duty Excavator

I am going to start off this review with the obvious, this is one of the best looking small LEGO Technic sets ever designed.

The build time was about an hour and the experience was quite enjoyable.

As far as functionality goes, it has a basic two motion system for the boom that is operated by turning one of two 16 tooth bevel gears. One gear is located on the back of the model and moves the bucket arm forwards and backwards, while one located on the side moves it up and down.

The entire upper part of the model rotates 360 degrees on a turntable that doesn't have any mechanism to operate it, you just turn the entire structure with your hand.

The tracks roll along rather nicely on a textured surface as they should.

My favorite part of the model has got to be the cabin where the driver would sit, it is just so perfectly designed and looks amazing for this small scale.

Hats off to the designer of this set. They did an amazing job and I highly recommend this beautiful set to anyone who is into heavy construction equipment, you won't be disappointed.

We wish to thank LEGO for providing this set for review. The opinions in this review are not supported or endorsed by LEGO.
