Set Review ➟ 75298 Tauntaun & AT-AT Microfighters

The 75298 Tauntaun & AT-AT Microfighters set is a new set of Microfighter theme (Series 8). It Contains 205 parts and 2 minifigs. Both two models depicted in the box can be built at the same time. It is scheduled to be available by March 1st, 2021.

I really love these sets, they are perfect to be placed on my working space. The compact size of the vehicles makes them perfect for display on small surfaces, Although small they are perfectly recognizable. This set includes all the parts needed to build a Tauntaun with Luke Skywalker as his rider and a small AT-AT with a AT-AT driver.

Both models are built separately, as each one has its own instructions. I wanted to build the Tauntaun first, because at first sight it looks great. The building process was quite entertaining, with many interesting parts. It is a small model, but plenty of details. The final result was awesome.

Altought it is included in the Microfighters theme, the model of the tauntaun is very well scaled when compared to the minifig.

This model, with very few modifications could be used in serious dioramas, as it is very close to the animal figure of the tauntaun.

And the minifig can be placed over the saddle without been a strange combination out of scale. In my opinion this is a great model.

The next step was the building process of the AT-AT. In this case it was a model very related to the Micorfigthers philosophy: an under-scaled model with a minifig which act as his rider-pilot. At first, I didn’t focus in this model, as it was very similar to the one appeared in the 75057 set. I think this time is a better rendition of the original AT-AT.

This model has many elements that can be moved or placed in different positions, so it is very funny to play with.

The driver, of course can be placed commanding the AT-AT model.

This set doesn’t contain stickers, all decorative elements are printed on the pieces.

There are two minifigs in this set. One is Luke Skywalker in Hoth fatigue and the other a AT-AT driver. Both are very detailed with printed legs and torso. And both come with shotting weapons.

Furthermore, they are printed in the back side, and the Luke’s head has double printed faces.

As a final conclusion, I think this is one of the best sets of the Microfighters theme. Both models are cool and very well done.

And finally, just for fun I placed the tauntaun model on a MILS diorama of the Hoth battle and I took this picture.
