Set Review ➟ 71020 Collectible Minifigures The LEGO Batman Movie series 2
The new series of Collectible minifigures is the second round dedicated to the LEGO Batman Movie. In this case we got 20 new minifigures including new characters and new costumes for the main characters.
We are not going to explain the characters themselves, but we will take a look in the minifigures, their decoration and accessories.
To start there is something new in this series, compared with The LEGO Batman Movie series 1. The plate-stand includes the Batman symbol printed. It’s sad that we didn’t get this for the first series.
Let’s go with the minifigures!
Disco Harley Queen
This minifigure wears the dress that appears in the last celebration of the movie. A Disco party. It complements the minifigures that come in the Joker Manor. In this case the Harley Queen wears a white dress with golden decoration, a ballet skirt and roller skates, one golden and one silver. Although she’s a villain, she has a “half smile” in her face, and she is also winking an eye.
Disco Alfred Pennyworth
This is the second and last minifigure that wears the Disco Party dress. In this case, Alfred wears a very elegant white-golden suit with golden vest. The dress coat is long, and it arrives to the ankles with a cloth accessory. The legs are plain white. The head has special print, with golden glasses. Alfred is playing a red electric guitard.
Clock King
It wears a blue pyjamas with lots of clocks on it. The clocks mark different times. It includes the legs, front and side, and the arms. Over the pyjamas he wears green scarf, cape and slip. The head is a blue watch face, this one marking 9:06. In the rear side there are two small holes with decoration showing the internal mechanism. As complements the minifigure includes two spears.
Hugo Strange
The professor wears a white coat that arrives at the level of the knees. This means that the legs, injected in black and white, are decorated following the decoration of the torso. The coat is tied with buttons and he has an ID card in the right side. He wears groves and he has in his hands two test tubes. It has an accessory for the beard and no hear.
Mermaid Batman
This is one of the funny minifigures of the series. Batman’s torso is nude and has two shells as bra. Of course, due that he is Batman he has a yellow belt. The black mermaid tail has silver scales. Batman has a funny smile in his face and has the standard Batman mask. A black trident is the perfect accessory for this minifigure
Swimming Pool Batman
A nude Batman wearing a small Bat-swimsuit is ready for swimming. Of course we can see there his six-pack. He has a swim glasses in the mask, the second time that this part is used. It has two interesting accessories, a dolphin float and a lifeguard float.
Tropical Joker
In my opinion it is one of the best minifigure of the series. The Joker wears a hawaiian short sleeve light blue shirt, and a bath suit in purple. The feet are decorated with sandals pattern and the arms have the four stick decks of Poker. He wears sunglasses and the minifigure comes with three excellent accessories. The duck float in lime, an ice cream and a photo camera.
Vacation Robin
Robin wears a red short sleeve shirt with orange birds as decoration. The legs are injected in two colors, reproducing a bath suit in green with the initial “R” and the cords to tie it. The hairpiece is new because the glasses are really sunglasses with green glass. Robin is eating an icecream and in the other hand, he has a black Radio Cassette.
Vacation Batgirl
She wears a short sleeve surf suit in purple. The suit is decorated in the front with the Batgirl logo and in the rear with the zipper that allow to wear and unwear the surf suit. She has also the utility belt in yellow. The mask is the same that other Batgirl minifigs, including the ponytail. The surfboard is yellow and also includes the batgirl logo.
Vacation Alfred
He wears an old-style short sleeve bath suit with black and white horizontal strips. Although he’s on vacation, he still wears the white bow tie.The head pattern is new with lowered eyeglasses and smile. The hairpiece is the same than other Alfreds. He’s drinking a cocktail with cherries.
Soccer Mom Batgirl
When Batgirl goes to uy merchandising, she takes all the stuff available. She wears a sweatshirt of the Batman Fan Club with strips in the arms and a hood that remembers Batman mask, sport pants with the message “#1 Batman”, a utility belt, and a Batman cape. She has two merchandising vouchers in her hands, ready to get more stuff…
Killer Moth
The decoration of this minifigure is excellent. It is very colorful, with purple shirt, red slip, orange-lime stockings and yellow belt. He wears orange gloves and a lime helmet. He has two accessories, a golden blaster, new in this color, and trans-neon orange wings fairy.
Wonder Twin Janya
She wears a purple suit and the legs and arms are injected in two colors: light and dark purple. The hairpiece reproduces also the pointy ears. The dark purple pointed collar is one of the accessories, together with a vinyl disc and the disc cover. We can see that the disc contains the Top 24 Party songs.
Wonder Twin Zan
The body parts are the same than his sister, but with different pattern. In this case he has, as expected, the Zan logo in the chest. The hairpiece and the pointed collar are also the same than his sister. Legs are decorated to reproduce boots. He has a bucket with a round trans-clear-blue tile 1x1 with a face pattern to show that he can transform into any form of water.
Apache Chief
He wears the typical apache suit, with a suit open that shows his chest, short pants, red belt and boots. He’s not happy, as we can see in his face expression. The hairpiece is excellent, reproducing the long hair and the hair ribbon. He has also wristbands. He has a funny 1x3 tile with 3 pictures of him coming from a photobooth. In these photos he has a festive attitude.
Jor-El
The father of Superman appears in this collection with an elegant white dress. He is using a 65º 2x2x2 slope as legs with a decoration combined with the torso. The head has the white beard printed and the hairpiece is the Superman hairpiece in white color. He has a round tile 1x1 with the Superman logo and an ice crystal in his hands.
General Zod
This is the figure that complements Jor-el as he is one of his son’s enemy. He dresses the typical black suit that leaves his chest visible, and with the Zod logo in the rear. Arms have a symbol printed, he as two face expression, serious and aggressive, with red eyes. He has a newspaper in his hands, the Gotham Gazette, that includes a poll about if people has to kneel before him.
Doctor Phosphorus
It is an interesting minifig in yellowish green with skeleton pattern. It has blue shorts tattered and the legs and arms are fully decorated too. It has two flames of radioactive phosphorus. I think, in this case that LEGO lost the opportunity to produce a trans-neon-green minifigure.
Black Canary
This superhero is wearing a medium azure dress that partially hides her real suit. An attractive leather black body and fishnet stockings. She has a beautiful blond hair and two face expressions, one serious and another singing. To sing, the minifig includes a microphone and its stand, built with 4 parts.
Black Vulcan
This is the last minifig of the series. He wears a black suit, once more with his logo reproduced in it, both in the front and in the back. The legs are injected in two colors and it has black leotard and yellow boots reproduced. The skin color is dark brown as he is an African-american superhero. The mask is a new part, it is similar than Flash mask but with different wings. He has two Wave Angular Lightning beam as weapon.
Conclusions
I have a mixed sensations with this series of minifigs. Perhaps because I am not a hardcore fan of comics, I see that there are some very interesting minifigures and accessories, but others they don’t really appeal to me.
Putting aside this personal opinion, the minifigures are excellent. The new parts, the prints and the variety of colors and characters is excellent. It is an opportunity, for instance, to complete the Joker Manor, with the Disco characters or the Justice League Anniversary party set, with the Party characters.
The stand with the Batman logo is a very nice inclusion, but it generated the problem that now we don’t have the series 1 with the same stand.
