Set Review ➟ 10684 Supermarket Suitcase

This is my first LEGO JUNIORS set. I expected a very simple and boring set, because it’s supposed to be a set for introducing the kids into the LEGO world. But after playing with it, it’s a nice set with a great selection of parts and very playable.

The first thing I found when I received the set was the suitcase. I had old suitcases. Their plastic material and the lockers were not the best ones. I have been really surprised when removing the cartoon and seeing the box. Its quality is very high and the lockers close it very well. The cover has the LEGO logo and the lockers have studs engraved. Inside the box there are two main compartments and I could also find separators to distribute those compartiments. There are three long and two short separators. Almost endless possibilities… like the bricks.

The selection of parts for this set is one of the best I’ve ever seen in a box of this size. Two female minifigs, one cat, a scooter, plenty of food, flowers, and nice selection of colours.

There are also some new printed parts which are interesting themselves. One main board with a basket and food inside as a signal for the shop, a 2x4 tile with carrots and 1,99 pattern, a 1x2x2 brick with Corn Flakes pattern, a brick of orange juice and another of milk (those ones come from Friends).

For me is an expandable shop basement. It gives a lot of flexibility if you have several of them, and you can easily make your supermarket grow.

The model itself, of course, is not complicated. The target for this set is a kid from 4 to 7 years. Inside the shop there is a fridge, a main table with the cash register and cupboard in the main store window. There is only the façade of the shop with two big glasses and one main door.

Outside, we can find an ice cream stand and a vegetable stand. The customer comes with her scooter. Once she has arrived to the shop you can substitute the helmet for a hair. She also comes with a purple basket which can be fitted in the scooter.

It’s a good set to introduce the kids into LEGO. It’s funny to build it and although it’s a small set, it’s very playable. The selection of parts is very attractive (even for the AFOLs) and the suitcase is a great idea to allow kids to bring their LEGO bricks and go everywhere with them.

Acknowledge: LEGO CEE team for providing the set.
