For five years now, LEGO has been tempting us with sets popularly known as “the winter ones”, and this year wouldn’t be different, these holidays we are tempted with “Santa’s Workshop”.
It is a medium box set, where the stock parts, numbered 1 to 3, the building instructions, a small stickers sheet (necessary, really!!) and…of course…the parts separator. The two instruction booklets, together with the stickers sheet, are in a plastic cover but without the typical cardboard that use to come in this kind of sets.
With the first booklet, and the number 1 bags all the "atrezzo" of the set is built, the Christmas tree, the North Pole sign, the breeding reindeer and the Santa’s sleigh with the reindeers. This part has no any mystery except for the sleigh building, which is quite entertaining, without being complicated and it has lots of interesting gold parts.
The rest of the set, that is, the workshop itself, is built using the second booklet. With the number 2 bags the main entrance can be built, which gives to the living room with its fireplace, also the Santa’s office is built. The best of this section are the pillars at the house entrance, the giant candy sticks and the Santa’s armchair, the rest it’s quite simple to build.
With the rest of the parts the workshop section is gotten, quick and easy building, it is completed with the presents manufacturing chain which adds a funny point to the set along with Mrs. Claus and the elves. It joins the house at an angle what is something different…
The weakest thing of the set is the simplicity of its construction, but it’s well balanced with the positives. It turns to a snow covered building look, which is welcome due to over the years snow has been losing from the roofs, and for "winter" sets it did not seem very logical. It is true that it’s a set that does not fit with other "winter" sets because unlike them, this is not a city building such as the previous ones, but… who has not ever wanted to see Santa Claus’ house and workshop? Moreover, it is a funny set because of the minifigs and the reindeers, honestly the best of the set.
Don’t let it go or it would fly away in its sleigh to the cold…
