Set Review ➟ 4000010 LEGO House
In 2016 the LEGO House will open its doors. This is one of the major steps taken by the company to convert Billund into the Capital of Children. The building will consist of 21 white bricks stacked on top of each other enclosing the interior space. Crowning the building will be the Keystone Gallery, which is inspired by the legendary 2x4 brick. Inside there will be four Play Zones specially designed around four different but interconnected play worlds. All this is based on a balance between play, learning and creativity. Under the building there will be an area dedicated to the history of the company.
Based on the box design and the characteristics of the model, the set may well be part of the Architecture line, but the model launched by the company based on the LEGO House is a limited edition set. As already mentioned the design is very similar to the rest of the building designs of the Architecture line, both in the scale and the range of colors chosen. I was surprised that the model is completely white, when in the computer images of how the LEGO House will be, each terrace appears decorated in a different color. I think it would have been much nicer with those color contrasts against the white walls and black base. The construction is very simple, bottom up, with a substructure in black and trans clear that purports to represent the interior of the building with its windows, and the white cubes that give the building its distinctive appearance. Crowning the whole there is one 2x4 brick representing the gallery that the building will have at its coronation and that will also look like a giant 2x4 brick. No doubt this is the part that decided the scale of the model. The pieces that make up the model are almost all small bricks, plates and tiles. The set includes an exclusive minifig.
It is clear that the interest of the model lies in its uniqueness and what this project symbolizes for the future of the company, so it will definitely be highly sought after by collectors. Fans of the Architecture line can also see it as an attractive model, because although it does not properly belong to this line, since it is a building and given its scale, it is certainly closer to this theme than to any other. The completed set is decorative and stylish and looks great on the desk of any AFOL.
