Airline Exclusive: 4473 Police Helicopter

Each year some airlines have in their OnBoard shops a small LEGO set, usually related to aeronautics. During the last years we have had some cool models like a Glider, a Commuter Jet or a Sports Plane.

This year the set it’s a Police Helicopter… and it’s really disappointing (well, it is really a 2012 set but available this year). It is probably the last set with 4-digit code.

Most of the AFOLs usually wait this set to get something different from the typical retail sets (Police, Fire fighters, Construction…) and once we knew this year’s model, we didn’t really have good news. Anyway we love LEGO and I’ve purchased and built it.

The set consists of a helicopter with two policemen. The box is the typical for airline sets (small) and there’s almost no free space inside, which is really nice.

The minifigures are probably the coolest thing of the set. Two polices with torso and legs decorated and different face expression.

The model itself is only another Police Helicopter. It is (unfortunately) nothing really extraordinary and there aren’t any special building techniques. Once built it looks right but that’s all. One thing I don’t really like is that the movement winch is connected with the movement of the blades, which makes that you can’t turn free the rotor.

It is a model that you should have if you collect Airline Exclusives but not a great addition to the models. I encourage LEGO to return to the cool and different models like last year’s.
